This Policy explains what personal data we collect when you use VINPORT (our website vinportlb.com, mobile app, and WhatsApp service at +961 76 834 019), why, and your rights. By using the Service you agree to this Policy.
1. What we collect
- Search data - the VIN(s) you look up, and the resulting Report.
- Contact data - name, phone number (incl. WhatsApp number), email - if you provide them or message us.
- Transaction data - records of Reports purchased, amount, date, provider reference. We do not store full card numbers.
- Message data - the content of messages you send our WhatsApp bot.
- Technical data - IP address, device/browser type, app version, usage events, approximate time of request.
A VIN is a vehicle identifier, not directly a person - but combined with your contact details it can relate to you, so we treat it as personal data.
2. How we use it
- To deliver the Report you requested and process your payment.
- To operate, secure, and improve the Service (including preventing fraud and abuse of rate limits).
- To respond to your messages and provide support over WhatsApp/email.
- To keep records required for accounting, tax, and legal compliance.
- To send you service messages about a purchase (we will not send marketing without your consent).
3. Legal basis
We process your data to perform our contract with you (delivering a Report you paid for), to pursue our legitimate interests (running and securing the Service), to comply with legal obligations (tax/accounting), and, where required, with your consent (e.g. optional marketing).
4. Who we share it with
- Data providers - to build your Report, we query external vehicle-data sources (e.g. NHTSA vPIC, NMVTIS via authorised providers, US auction data providers). We send the VIN; we do not send them your identity.
- Payment providers - (e.g. Whish, MontyPay, Areeba, or a bank gateway) to process your payment under their own privacy terms.
- Infrastructure providers - hosting and database services that run the Service on our behalf.
- Authorities - where required by law or to protect our legal rights.
We do not sell your personal data.
5. International transfers
Because vehicle history originates in the United States, building a Report involves querying data sources located outside Lebanon (including in the US). Where we transfer data internationally, we do so only as needed to deliver the Service you requested.
6. Retention
We keep transaction and Report records for as long as needed to provide the Service and to meet legal, tax, and accounting requirements, after which we delete or anonymise them. Technical logs are kept for a limited period for security and troubleshooting.
7. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures (encryption in transit, access controls, hashed credentials) to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and to limit who can access it.
8. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may request to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise a right, contact us using Section 10. We may need to verify your identity first.
9. Cookies and similar technologies
Our website uses only the cookies/local storage needed to run the site (e.g. your language preference and session). We do not use non-essential tracking cookies without your consent. You can clear these in your browser at any time.
